Glitter Girl Cowl and Beanie Class with Nadine Starting February 21

Knitting with glitter? Yes, please! How can you not be in a good mood when you are knitting and wearing the fun and festive Glitter Girl Cowl & Beanie? Knit in the round with Lang Paillettes which is nestled in with the luxurious Fonty Saperlipopette a silky extra soft yarn, with a cloud-like voluminosity on size 9 circular needles. Great alternative for those with a mohair allergy as it is a blend of Baby Suri Alpaca, Silk and Fine Merino. The blend of yarns perfectly defines the stitches creating a delicate and sumptuous cowl and beanie. 

Skills Taught: 

Techniques to Learn: 

1. Cowl and Beanie students will work a simple two-round slip stitch pattern. Alternating between Round 1 that is worked with both yarns held together and Round 2 (with the slip stitches) that is worked with a single strand of Saperlipopette. 

2. Cowl and Beanie students will learn the M1 increase.

3. Cowl and Beanie students will learn how to slip and knit stitches in the same row. 

4. Beanie students will learn some new decreases beyond just the usual k2tog decrease.

Class Times: 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, Saturdays

Dates:  2/21 and 2/28

Class Size: 5 students (age 16+) maximum.  A minimum of 3 students must register and pay for the class in order for the class to be held.   

Fee: $100 for 2 two-hour classes (4 hours of class total). 

Skill Level:   Intermediate Beginner Level

1. Be proficient using the knit and purl stitches within the same row/round.

2. Be familiar with the cast on and bind off.

3. For the Beanie – have some experience working decreases. 

Materials:  US 9 circular needles and US 9 double pointed needles, stitch markers, tapestry needle (all materials are available for purchase at Peninsula Flock Knits)

Yarn:  2 balls of Lang Paillettes and 3 balls of Fonty Saperlipopette to be purchased at PFK.  Please purchase yarn before first class.  If you plan to purchase your yarn on the same day as the first class, please come to the store by 11 am so that you have enough time to pick out colors from PFK's stock.

Pattern:  To be purchased at 1st class - $8.50 (not included in class fee)
