Appalachian Baby Design is dedicated to providing the most beautiful elements for the fiber artist to create an heirloom baby gift.  The core ingredient of their designs is the yarn: they work with small-scale U.S. sustainable family-owned cotton farms, sheep ranches and family-owned mills.  Their yarn is intended to be used for a slow and easy meditation where individual efforts make a difference, and it is used to express the great joy of a new baby entering our world.

Appalachian Baby's dedication to creating the highest quality fiber projects is evident in this Lamb's Ear Hooded Baby Cardigan.  This class will allow you to quickly learn the elements of constructing a complete cardigan sweater, and these skills can then be translated into producing adult-sized garments.  Plus you will create a family heirloom using organic cotton yarn that you know will be treasured.

Skills Taught: Learn or review decreases: k2tog, ssk, skp, reading pattern, finishing garment pieces per pattern instruction, seaming techniques using mattress stitch

Class Times: 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, Saturdays

Dates:  October 10, 24 and 31.  There is no class on 10/17 and students can use this time to knit the body of the cardigan.

Class Size: 5 students (age 16+) maximum.  A minimum of 3 students must register and pay for the class in order for the class to be held.   

Fee: $112.50 for three 1.5-hour classes

Skill Level:  Confident with basic knitting skills, knitting and purling interchangeably, be familiar with basic decreases (k2tog, ssk, skp), binding off

Materials (to be provided by student)

• US size US size 6 (4mm) 4.5mm, and 5.5mm) (or size required to achieve gauge) circular needles.  Length with cord should be 24"
• Removable stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Buttons

Yarn (to be purchased separately):   Students will be using Appalachian Baby US Organic Cotton.  The pattern (purchased separately) provides instructions for 12-months, 18-months and 24-months sizes.  Students should purchase 3 balls of yarn for a 12-months size and 4 balls for the 18-months and 24-months sizes.  Click HERE to purchase your yarn before the first class.

Pattern:  Students will need to have their own copy of the pattern.  Pattern is available for purchase through Ravelry.  Students can purchase it directly from Ravelry by clicking  HERE or by coming into the store. 

Gauge:  9 stitches= 2", 14 rows= 2"
