Knitting FUNdamentals 2.5
Sailor Slippers by Annie Germain

Sailor Slippers by Annie Germain of @anniesews have been the celebrated across social media for over a year.  They are quick to stitch, fun to felt and make fantastic gifts. These felted wool slippers are smartly knit in one piece, seamed around the edge between sole and upper foot, then felted to complete.  The pattern includes instructions to make slippers from sizes (women's) 5.5 to 14, so you can make slippers for virtually all of your friends and family.

Join us for a 2 part class in which you will learn how to create the slipper, then you magically felt at home in your washing machine.  There’s nothing quite like slipping your feet into a pair of slippers you’ve made yourself- you’ll never want to take them off.  Go ahead- you deserve it!

Your Teacher:  Erin

Skills Taught:  Picking up stitches, changing colors, seaming knit pieces together, applied i-cord edge (felting to be performed at home).

Skills Required:  Cast on, knit, purl, increase/decrease and bind off.

Class Times: 2:00 - 4:00 pm, Fridays

Dates: 9/18 and 9/25

Class Size: 6 students (age 16+) maximum.  A minimum of 3 students must register and pay for the session in order for the session to be held.

Fee: $100 for 2 two-hour classes  (Please note that this is only the teaching fee.  Students will also need to purchase a yarn kit and the pattern as described below)

Yarn:  Students will need to purchase the yarn kit for this class from Peninsula Flock Knits before the first class.  Each yarn kit contains 9 balls of Drop Snow yarn, which is enough yarn to make the largest size slipper.  Because students will have homework to complete before the first class, students must purchase and pick up their yarn kit before the first class.  The kits come in a variety of colors combinations, although the quantities of each color combination are limited.  The yarn kits can be purchased  HERE.

Other Materials:  Students will need a US 11 (8mm) circular needle (24” or bigger, not straight needles), opening stitch markers, and a darning needle. Students can purchase these items from Peninsula Flock Knits.

Pattern:  Students must acquire the pattern before the first class in order to complete their homework.  The pattern can be purchased from Peninsula Flock Knits HERE

Homework: For the first class students will need to cast on the number of stitchesd in the pattern corresponding to the size of slipper they are making and work the first 3 rows according to the instructions, stopping right before the first color change.  Please bring pattern to first class.
